As a young child, I was taught in Sunday school that 'The truth will set you free'. I thought that this simply meant that I needed to tell the truth all the time. It has taken me years to really understand what that statement means.
Each of has "voices" in our head that remind us of the rules that we must live by. These voices inform our decision making process and the consequences we face from the decisions we make. The problem is that these voices do not always tell us the truth.
The Bible emphatically calls Satan "The father of lies" (John 8:44). When we hear statements about the way we live, that are not true, then they are coming directly from Satan. You may think 'I am not good enough', 'I do not care about people', 'I am a horrible parent', etc. The lies go on and on. I encourage you to look at the evidence and rightly judge if the voices are speaking the truth. Try to silence the lies and listen to the voice of TRUTH.
